MIKA - Apocalypse Calypso Tour
Pop singer Mika will come to AFAS Live in Amsterdam on Friday, March 29. The show is part of the European 'Apocalypse Calypso' tour.
Throughout his career, Mika has created a raw romantic world full of joy and playfulness with alternative pop. In 2007, Mika hit the pop music industry in a big way with his hit single 'Grace Kelly', which sold more than three million copies worldwide and became the second British single ever to top the charts through downloads alone. It was number one in the UK for five weeks and also topped the charts in six other countries. To date, his debut album 'Life In Cartoon Motion' has racked up 2.8 billion streams, 8.3 million physical record sales and 12.8 million digital purchases. The album went straight to number one on the charts in the UK and eleven other countries.
After a triumphant return from his performance at Coachella in May 2022, Mika got to work with one of the biggest honors in the European music world: international host during the Eurovision Song Festival. Although he previously ventured into a French single in 2011, he took the big step in 2023 on the soundtrack of the French-language film 'Zodi et Tehu: feres du desert', working with more than 160 musicians worldwide. This also applies to the French-Canadian Simon Leclerc, with whom he collaborated on his symphonic concerts in 2021. The soundtrack puts Mika back on the map and he crosses international borders, but in his own way.
Mika has been nominated for and won awards from the Brits, the Grammys, the Ivor Novellos, Capital Radio, Q Magazine, The NRJS's, The World Wide Music Awards, BT and Vodaphone, Virgin Media and MTV's European, Asian, Australian and Japanese awards. He has also received the prestigious French 'Chevalier dans l'ordre des Arts et des Lettres'. Mika has currently sold more than fifteen million albums worldwide and has gold or platinum records in 32 countries.
