Roze Reuzen - Queer History Month
IHLIA celebrates the lives of Roze Reuzen (Pink Giants) in exhibition and podcast during Queer History Month
As a rainbow community, we stand on the shoulders of Roze Reuzen (Pink Giants), individuals who have played a significant role in the emancipation of the Dutch LGBTQ+ community. We aim to spotlight these people during the fourth edition of the Dutch Queer History Month.
This year's highlight is the release of a podcast titled Roze Reuzen (Pink Giants), a collaboration between IHLIA, Van Gisteren, a bureau for public historical projects, and queer magazine Winq.
The exhibition provides a visual context to the interviews using materials from the archive. Among the items on display are the LP of Tedje & de Flikkers, stickers with slogans from the Rooie Flikkers, the SuHo Newspaper, the Purple September Newspaper, and various texts and photos from the ZMV (Black, Migrant, and Refugee Women) movement. Thus, the exhibition offers a broad overview of Dutch LGBTQ+ emancipation.

IHLIA viert de levens van Roze Reuzen in expositie en podcast tijdens Queer Geschiedenismaand
Wij staan als regenbooggemeenschap op de schouders van Roze Reuzen, mensen die een belangrijke rol speelden in de emancipatie van de Nederlandse lhbtiq+-gemeenschap. Deze mensen willen we in de spotlights zetten tijdens de vierde editie van de Nederlandse Queer Geschiedenismaand.
Hoogtepunt van dit jaar is de publicatie van een podcast Roze Reuzen, een samenwerking van IHLIA, Van Gisteren, bureau voor publiekshistorische projecten, en queermagazine Winq.
De expositie geeft visuele context aan de interviews dankzij materialen uit het archief. Je vindt er onder meer de LP van Tedje & de Flikkers, stickers met leuzen van de Rooie Flikkers, de SuHo Krant, de Paarse Septemberkrant en verschillende teksten en foto’s van de ZMV-beweging. Daarmee biedt de expositie op hoofdlijnen een overzicht van de Nederlandse lhbtiq+-emancipatie.
