On March 8, 2024, the Melkweg Expo becomes the mouthpiece for the forgotten voices in the conversation on ecofeminism with the event 'Siblings of the Soil'. The climate crisis is anything but apolitical; it is precisely the result of political decisions mostly made by the West, at the expense of the Global South. With events in areas such as Gaza, Congo, and Sudan, and their impact on our planet, it becomes increasingly crucial to center the experiences and voices of women of color, who are often ignored, in discussions on climate justice. After all, it is they who are often hit the hardest. 'Siblings of the Soil' puts these women from the Global South in the spotlight. The event includes an exhibition and an evening filled with art, music, and conversations, aimed at highlighting ecofeminism.
The event encompasses an exhibition and an evening full of art, music, and conversations, focused on shedding light on ecofeminism. The music is provided by Ampfeminine, with performances by Sennes, Ayisha Thomas, and Suzooki Swift. Additionally, there is an art market featuring, among other things, art prints and handmade jewelry and lingerie. There are also spoken word performances on the agenda, provided by Viva La Vulva, with performances by Alejandra Ortiz, Ghazaleh, and Julia-Beth Harris, and a DJ set by DJ Nata Babaju, hosted by DJ Willa. Moreover, Bar Bario brings its living room conversations in the form of Bario Radio to Melkweg, where they will engage in discussions with Chautuileo Tranamil and Victoria McKenzie.

The works of six artists: Tiana Japp, Irina Naji, Maha Eljak, Dina El Zeneiny, Rah Naqvi, and Nella Ngingo will be exhibited. These artists offer honest perspectives on the themes of patriarchy, ecofeminism, and capitalism: from the representation of femininity in Burundi to that in Palestine. These are very current topics and perspectives translated into various art forms, including painting, photography, and even beadwork.
The opening event starts on March 8 from 17:00 to 22:00, the exhibition can also be seen until April 28 at Melkweg Expo. From March 9, the exhibition is open every Tuesday through Sunday from 11:00 to 19:00.

De werken van zes kunstenaars: Tiana Japp, Irina Naji, Maha Eljak, Dina El Zeneiny, Rah Naqvi en Nella Ngingo worden tentoongesteld. Deze kunstenaars bieden eerlijke perspectieven op de thema's van patriarchie, ecofeminisme en kapitalisme: van de representatie van vrouwelijkheid in Burundi tot in Palestina. Het zijn zeer actuele onderwerpen en perspectieven die worden vertaald naar verschillende kunstvormen, waaronder schilderkunst, fotografie en zelfs kralenwerk.
Het openingsevenement start op 8 maart van 17:00 tot 22:00, de expositie is dan ook te zien tot en met 28 april in Melkweg Expo. Vanaf 9 maart is de expositie open op elke dinsdag tot en met zondag van 11:00 tot 19:00.
