You are cordially invited to an event curated by textile artist @yamunaforzani, in collab with @wereldmuseum, in celebration of the embroidery exhibition Talking Threads.

The Angel Delight project started in 2021, at @worm_rotterdam, where Forzani transformed the space into a colorful queer utopia. She is known for organizing balls such as @theutopiaball, combining a catwalk show with ballroom culture and performance.

On August 18, Forzani will showcase her latest fashion collection in an immersive art installation. There will also be embroidery workshops, a panel discussion, a fashion show and a party with vogue performers and DJs.

THE EVENT IN A NUTSHELL:

🌾 Rice Braided in Hair: embroidery workshop by @suelae_art. Enslaved Africans braided rice into their hair. Escaped enslaved people used these to harvest their own food. Robinson’s workshop follows this example of people taking control of their freedom, to shape a collaborative patchwork embroidery.

🧵 Freestyle embroidery workshop by @247bambi, who attended @artezfashiondesignarnhem and @ecolelesage, the famous Ecole Lesage embroidery school in Paris.

👖 Forzani Embroidery Station: Embellish your garments with Forzani’s laser-cut applique designs.

🎤 Panel discussion: Artists @ada_m_patterson, Desirée Hammen, Yamuna Forzani & Suelae Robinson share the stories behind their work.

🪩 Angel Delight fashion performance & club night: Dressed in Forzani’s designs, the @khoangels give a vogue performance.
