COC Song Contest 2023 in Leeuwarden

The Frisian capital Leeuwarden is the host city for the COC Song Contest 2023. The 27th edition of the famous rainbow song competition will take place on Saturday, December 16 at the Neushoorn pop venue. COC Friesland organizes this edition together with the national team. 

During the last edition of the festival, the Frisian entry, Blondeau with the song 'I'll take it', finished in second place with a difference of only four points. Yet the festival is coming to Leeuwarden, because the winning Pink 50+ Foundation decided to abandon the organization. “We are still very proud of Jessie and Bam who won the festival on behalf of our organization with the catchy song 'Loes'. Unfortunately, we have had to conclude that we are unable to organize this beautiful festival. The organization is in good hands with the 'runner-up' COC Friesland,” says Manon Linschoten, project leader of the Roze 50+ Foundation.

COC Friesland is very happy with this opportunity. “We are incredibly honored to be organizing the COC Song Contest in Leeuwarden this year. It is a great cultural enrichment for Leeuwarden and Friesland," says Brenda de Groot on behalf of COC Friesland. The National Team COC Song Contest, which is organizing the upcoming edition together with the Frisian hosting partner, is also pleased. “We are going to work with a lot of energy and enthusiasm to organize another colorful festival,” they said in a response.

Participation and ticket salesAll COC associations that are affiliated with COC Netherlands and other LGBTI+ organizations can participate in the COC Song Contest with an entry. As an artist you can participate by contacting and registering through one of these organizations or the National Team COC Song Contest. Some organizations organize preliminary rounds, others search for a participant in their region. Registration for this edition is not yet open. The participant regulations can be found via the Participation page on this website. Ticket sales for the COC Song Contest 2023 in Leeuwarden have also not started yet.

Dit jaar is Leeuwarden de gaststad voor het COC Songfestival 2023. Bij de befaamde regenboog liedjeswedstrijd is meedoen belangrijker dan winnen, maar niemand is immuun voor de smaak van victorie en die glanzende trofee. De 27ste editie vindt op zaterdag 16 december plaats in onze Grote Zaal.

Het COC Songfestival is ooit begonnen als een knipoog naar het grote Eurovisiesongfestival, maar inmiddels is het uitgegroeid tot een serieuze liedjeswedstrijd. Tijdens de laatste editie van het festival eindigde de Friese inzending, Blondeau met het lied ‘I’ll take it', met slechts vier punten verschil op de tweede plaats. De winnaar Stichting Roze 50+ besloot af te zien van de organisatie en daarom organiseert COC Friesland de komende editie van het kleurrijke festival met het Landelijk Team COC Songfestival.

Alle COC-verenigingen die zijn aangesloten bij COC Nederland en andere lhbti+ organisaties kunnen met een inzending deelnemen aan het COC Songfestival. Als artiest kan je meedoen door contact op te nemen en je aan te melden via één van deze organisaties of het Landelijk Team COC Songfestival.
