IN-EDIT is back! The sixth edition of the music documentary festival will take place this year from April 11 to April 21 at the Melkweg. Also this year, there are many beautiful new music films to see, such as this documentary about the American queer folk-rock duo Indigo Girls.

With a musical career spanning an impressive forty years as the iconic folk-rock duo Indigo Girls, Amy Ray and Emily Saliers have not only made their mark as musicians and songwriters but also as dedicated activists. For many, they are a symbol of radical self-acceptance, with multiple generations of fans saying: "the Indigo Girls changed my life." Yet, Amy and Emily have faced misogyny, homophobia, and harsh cultural criticism for not fitting into the stereotype of the female pop star. With joy, humor, and moving sincerity, Sundance award-winning director Alexandria Bombach takes us into a contemporary conversation with Amy and Emily. This is complemented by decades of the band's home videos and intimate footage from today.

Met een muzikale carrière van maar liefst veertig jaar als het iconische folkrockduo Indigo Girls, hebben Amy Ray en Emily Saliers niet alleen indruk gemaakt als muzikanten en songwriters, maar ook als toegewijde activisten. Voor velen zijn ze een symbool van radicale zelfacceptatie, waarbij meerdere generaties fans zeggen: "de Indigo Girls hebben mijn leven veranderd." Toch hebben Amy en Emily te maken gehad met misogynie, homofobie en de harde culturele kritiek omdat ze niet pasten in het stereotype van de vrouwelijke popster.
