A poetic history lesson about the queer history of Africa. The continent has a rich but hidden queer history. Because these stories are never told, this knowledge is lacking when making current political and social choices.In It is not new, Geoffrey van der Ven examines how he, as a gay man of half-Nigerian descent, relates to these untold stories: how new is his story?

Through spoken word, storytelling and multimedia, Geoffrey takes the audience into the hidden history of the queer community, African traditions and the heroic stories that are not new, but unheard for too long.
