House of LGBT Comedy Night
Welcome to House of LGBTQIA+ Comedy Night
The open mic comedy night where LGBTQIA+ comedians take the spotlight.
Each night is hosted by one person, and five comedians take the stage, each with 20 minutes to present their comedy set. They have the freedom to work with both old and new material, making each night unique.
Collin Edson
Collin Edson is a stand-up comedian, presenter, and cabaret performer. In 2013, he debuted with his full-length theater show Kompas. In 2022, he won the Ramses Shaffy Award at the Amsterdam Cabaret Festival with his performance Tata Stima, and he is currently working on his new comedy show Fiesta. Collin also annually hosts various events at cultural venues like Roze Kwakoe. Additionally, he organizes his own comedy showcases Basilon and Bon Bini, and soon Collin&Friends. Collin has been a proud resident of Southeast Amsterdam for decades and is dedicated to the acceptance and visibility of the LGBTQIA+ community in the district.
Davey Jay Geernaert
Davey Jay Geernaert is a 27-year-old stand-up comedian and a recent member of the Comedyhuis in Utrecht. With high energy and sharp jokes, Davey talks about his life as a queer person. His dark humor and abrupt transitions are made palatable by his healthy dose of charisma. He entices his audience to break free from stereotypes, see exceptions as the norm, and find connection in what makes us unique.
Anne Ruitenberg
Anne Ruitenberg, 25 years old, is pansexual and comes from the Bible Belt. This combination has not always been easy. She once aspired to be a musical actress and moved to Amsterdam at 17 to attend the Frank Sanders Academy. Ultimately, she decided to tell her own story through cabaret. She takes you through her thoughts on this world.
Frank Westerink
In Frank's surprising and sharp comedy, he talks about his experiences over the past (almost) 40 years, his past in the Bible Belt, and his present as an LGBT+ member in Amsterdam Nieuw-West. Although he lives in a retirement home there, he is far from settling down. His comedy is sometimes delightfully edgy, which is where he feels comfortable.
Ellen Oort
Ellen Oort sees humor as the means to put life into perspective. She 'humorizes' life, so to speak. In 2021, she participated in the Comedy Talent Awards, where she unfortunately ended in the semi-finals. But she keeps pushing forward!
Zanyar Aziz
Zanyar Aziz is a poet, writer, photographer, comedian, and a pansexual pierced oddball. He was a finalist for the El Hizjra Literature Prize, a participant in the Slow Writing Lab of the Dutch Foundation for Literature, and was once interrogated by a young Peter R. de Vries about his graffiti practices. In his comedy, he explores the intersections of 'hahahaha' and 'whehehehe' because these emotions mark the boundaries of our emotional experience spectrum. If you don't 'hahahaha' with him, then he 'whehehe'.

Welkom bij House of LHBTQIA+ Comedy Night, dé open mic comedy avond waar LHBTQIA+ comedians de spotlights krijgen.
De LHBTQIA+ gemeenschap deelt hun kijk op het leven, met humoristische reflecties en persoonlijke ervaringen. Stap binnen, luister, lach en laat je meeslepen in de diverse, soms uitdagende wereld van de LHBTQIA+. Misschien ontdek je wel een letter die bij jou past, of kom je erachter dat je fluid, panseksueel, kinky, versa, of nog iets anders bent. Dit is een comedyshow waar LHBTQ+ stemmen eindelijk zelf aan het woord zijn, een ervaring die je niet wilt missen.
Elke avond wordt gehost door één persoon en vijf comedians betreden het podium, elk met 20 minuten om hun comedy set te presenteren. Ze hebben de vrijheid om met zowel oud als nieuw materiaal te werken, waardoor elke avond uniek is.
Collin Edson
Collin Edson is standup comedian, presentator en cabaretier. In 2013 debuteerde hij met zijn avondvullende theatershow Kompas. In 2022 won hij tijdens het Amsterdams Kleinkunst Festival de Ramses Shaffy award met zijn voorstelling Tata Stima en momenteel werkt hij aan zijn nieuwe comedy show Fiesta. Collin presenteert ook jaarlijks verschillende evenementen op culturele podia zoals bij Roze Kwakoe. Hij organiseert daarnaast zijn eigen comedy showcase Basilon en Bon Bini en binnenkort Collin&Friends. Collin is al tientallen jaren een trotse bewoner van Zuidoost en zet zich in voor de acceptatie en zichtbaarheid voor de LGBTQIA+ groep in het stadsdeel.
Davey Jay Geernaert
Davey Jay Geernaert is een 27 jarige stand up comedian en is sinds kort huisgenoot bij het Comedyhuis in Utrecht. Met een hoge energie en scherpe grappen vertelt Davey over zijn leven als queer persoon.Zijn donkere humor en abrupte schakels worden aangenaam verteerbaar door zijn gezonde dosis charisma.Hij verleidt zijn publiek om samen af te komen van het hokjes denken, uitzonderingen als de norm te zien en verbinding te vinden in wat ons uniek maakt.
Anne Ruitenberg
Anne Ruitenberg, 25 jaar, is pansexueel en komt uit de bijbelbelt. Die combinatie is niet altijd makkelijk geweest. Vroeger wilde ze musical actrice worden en is daarom op haar 17e verhuisd naar Amsterdam om de Frank Sanders Akademie te volgen. Uiteindelijk toch besloten om haar eigen verhaal te vertellen, door middel van cabaret. Ze neemt je mee in haar gedachten over deze wereld.
Frank Westerink
In de verrassende en scherpe comedy van Frank vertelt hij over zijn ervaringen in de (bijna) afgelopen 40 jaar, zijn verleden op de bijbelbelt en heden als LGBT+ member in Amsterdam Nieuw-West. Hoewel hij daar in een bejaardentehuis woont, zit hij nog lang niet achter de geraniums. Zijn comedy is soms lekker op het randje, daar voel hij zich comfortabel.
Ellen Oort
Ellen Oort ziet humor als hét middel om het leven wat te relativeren. Ze 'verhumoriseerd' het leven zeg maar. In 2021 deed ze mee aan de Comedy Talent Awards. Daar strandde ze helaas in de halve finale. Maar ze blijft vooral doorgaan!
Zanyar Aziz
Zanyar Aziz is dichter, schrijver, fotograaf, komiek en een panseksueel gepiercete druiloor. Hij was finalist voor de El Hizjra Literatuur prijs, deelnemer van het Slow Writing Lab van het Nederlandse Letterenfonds en werd ooit nog door een jonge Peter R. de Vries ondervraagd naar zijn graffiti praktijken. In zijn comedy verkent hij de kruispunten van hahahaha en whehehehe omdat deze emoties de grenzen van ons emotioneel belevingsspectrum aanduiden. Wanneer jij niet hahahaha bij hem dan hij whehehe.
