Everywhere you look, there are tables set for two, multi-person beds are in the minority, and even marriage is meant for two. But there's more to explore. In this intimate performance about relationships, Playful Collective Cupido delves deep into the subject. From three-person dinners, monogamy, and self-marriage to polyamory in good times and bad: all the colors of the rainbow are on display in a show that peeks behind closed doors and between the sheets. We celebrate the diversity that coexists. Playful and personal, wriggling and sweating, we let our curiosity guide us in discovering How Everyone Actually Does It.
The performance arises from a great fascination for the wide range of contemporary relationship forms on the one hand and their lack of representation in the heteronormative, clichéd portrayal of love on the other. We ask ourselves how each of us shapes love and/or sexuality, are interested in a range of possibilities, and investigate whether there is also a universal value in those countless individual experiences. Precisely by assuming fluidity around love and relationships, we can free these concepts from fixed frameworks, in order to give ourselves and the public insight into what else love and relationships can entail.

Overal waar je kijkt staan er tafeltjes gedekt voor twee, zijn de meerpersoonsbedden in de minderheid en is ook het huwelijk slechts voor twee bestemd. Maar er is meer mogelijk. In deze intieme voorstelling over relaties vraagt Speels Collectief Cupido het hemd van het lijf. Van diners-voor-drie, monogamie en het zelfhuwelijk tot polyamorie in voor- en tegenspoed: alle kleuren van de regenboog passeren de revue in een voorstelling die achter de voordeur en tussen de lakens kijkt. We vieren de veelheid die naast elkaar bestaat. Ondeugend en persoonlijk, woelend en zwetend, laten we ons leiden door onze nieuwsgierigheid naar Hoe Iedereen Het Eigenlijk Doet.
De voorstelling komt voort uit een grote fascinatie voor het brede scala aan hedendaagse relatievormen enerzijds en het gebrek aan representatie daarvan in de heteronormative, clichématige beeldvorming van de liefde anderzijds. We vragen onszelf af hoe ieder van ons de liefde en/of seksualiteit vormgeeft, zijn geïnteresseerd in een waaier aan mogelijkheden, en onderzoeken of er in die talloze individuele ervaringen ook een universele waarde schuilt. Juist door uit te gaan van fluïditeit rondom liefde en relaties kunnen we deze begrippen bevrijden uit vastgelegde kaders, om zo onszelf en het publiek inzicht te geven in wat liefde en relaties allemaal nog meer kunnen behelzen.
