Movie - Pink Flamingos (1972)

Pink Flamingos

Before a film hits cinemas, producers try to warm up audiences with a tagline. The producer (and also writer, director, editor and narrator) of this film, John Waters, came up with: "An exercise in poor taste". And given the many shocking scenes, which shun no taboo, "poor taste" might still be an understatement. The film was very well received by the film press at the time, but it was not allowed to be shown in many countries. Meanwhile, Pink Flamingos, the first part of Waters' 'Trash Trilogy', has achieved cult status.

The notorious criminal Divine, a splendid role by the drag queen and pop artist of the same name, prides herself on being seen as "the filthiest person alive". But criminal duo The Marbles are jealous of this and will do anything to prove that they are even nastier. This leads to many frenzied, bizarre and grotesque situations.
