People I Admire
The queer clubscene captured
In the photo series People I Admire, photographer Pelle Bonink pays tribute to people from the Dutch and German queer clubscenes. Filled with admiration for their nightly self-expression, Pelle shows their power, extravagance and beauty. Outside of the safe space of dark nightclubs, there often isn't much space for this self-expression. But with People I Admire, Pelle brings a piece of queer nightlife fully into the daylight. They hope to create more visibility for the diversity and vulnerability of the queer community. Walk into this world, and be introduced to a side of people that otherwise largely remains hidden for the camera.
Op Monday 11 November the exhibition will be opened festively at 19:30 PM in Neude Library! We toast to the work and programmer Annette van Zwoll will talk to Pelle and Fardad Dadvad, one of the people on display, about their experiences with the work.
