Projectkoor Diverdoatsie

Pink Saturday is coming up again, and for the third time, Groningen is the host city. This year, De Oosterpoort will also open its doors, featuring a performance by the diverse Project Choir Diverdoatsie, conducted by Cobien Nieuwpoort. For the choir, singing is the way to celebrate freedom and diversity. On June 21, the sixty singers will stand in De Oosterpoort to convey their message: hard-won freedoms are never a given and must always be fought for.

The choir will deliver this message with the European premiere of Harvey Milk: A Cantata by Jack Curtis Dubowsky, along with other choral works related to the assassination of this gay city official. The celebrating Gay Men's Choir Zangzaad and the Mixed Women's Choir will reinforce the message with their own repertoire: classical works and pop songs with a pink hue. To conclude, the three choirs will sing the legendary Various Voices, first performed at the eponymous European choir festival in Groningen in 1995.

De Roze Zaterdag komt er weer aan, en Groningen is voor de derde keer de gaststad. Dit jaar opent ook De Oosterpoort haar deuren en treedt het diverse Projectkoor Diverdoatsie op onder leiding van Cobien Nieuwpoort. Zingen is voor het koor dé manier om vrijheid en diversiteit te vieren. De zestig zangers van het koor staan op 21 juni in De Oosterpoort om hun boodschap over te brengen: verworven vrijheden zijn nooit vanzelfsprekend en moeten steeds bevochten worden.

Deze boodschap brengt het koor over met de Europese première van Harvey Milk: A Cantate van Jack Curtis Dubowsky en andere koorwerken die verband houden met de moord op deze homoseksuele stadsbestuurder. Het jubilerende Homomannenkoor Zangzaad en het Gemengd Dameskoor onderstrepen de boodschap met eigen repertoire: klassieke werken en popsongs met een roze tint. Samen zingen de drie koren ter afsluiting het legendarische Various Voices, in 1995 voor het eerst gezongen op het gelijknamige Europese korenfestival in Groningen.
