Queer Book Club

This year we’re reading exciting new queer novels and queer classics to start conversations about gender identity, sexuality and navigating queer life in general.

For our first meeting of 2025, we’ll read Alison Bechdel’s classic graphic novel Fun Home. In this autobiographical work, Bechdel discovers her own sexuality while at the same time coming to terms with the history of her father, who had always hidden his own homosexuality.

The session is chaired by Looi van Kessel, assistant professor of literary studies and gender studies at Leiden University. The sessions of the queer book club will be held in English.
