Queer Camp 2023
Projects
Project 1 Film:
The goal is to go through the creative process of taking your ideas that are conceptualized at the picnic, working it into a script and storyboard and then to do a shoot. The end result is hopefully going to be a six or seven minute short film that could be a documentary about the camp or a completely independent creative idea. The film will be screened on the second night of the camp. Anyone who does not want to be filmed or photographed at the camp can ask for a colored wristband at arrival. After the camp we will try to submit the film to international queer festivals.
Project 2 Zine:
A zine will be produced at the camp and sent to all participants of the zine group about 10 days later. Workshops will be on Friday and Saturday. Supplies will be provided. For this it would be nice to have a photographer or camera person join the project.
Project 3 Nightly Performances & Entertainment:
The performance project will end in a show at 9pm on Saturday night. The workshops will be Friday and Saturday. Workshop ideas for example are theory Drag as Resistance, Costume/Makeup, music, etc. This project will heavily rely on the ideas you bring and want to be seen on ‘stage’.
Project 4 Independent Workshops:
Got an idea for a workshop or collaborative project that is not listed? Sign up for Project 4 during the reservation process and let us know what you have in mind. Please remember that you will need to bring all materials to the camp ground and that they will not be refunded.
Accessibility
The camp ground can be reached by car. We have booked 2 wheelchair accessible rooms with 4 beds in total. The actual camping spot will be on a rough grass terrain but main communal areas can be accessed as long as it is not raining. We are going to offer a quiet tent during the day with one pair of noise cancelling headphones. The camp spot is surrounded by a forest and nature. If you need to take a breather, there is plenty of space.
This is a small DIY event, refunds will not be given. The camp will happen, rain or shine. The camp is a strictly non-profit event. None of the organizers or volunteers are getting paid. All funds collected go directly to the logistics of the camp.
