Queer Geschiedenismaand Dagboek
Henk, who grew up in Overijssel, moves to free and tolerant Amsterdam to be himself. Writer Anita van Oosterbosch has published his diary as a tribute to the young homosexuals who fought for recognition and emancipation at the time.
The evening will be opened by Wilfred van Buuren, head of collection at IHLIA LHBTI Heritage. Then presenter Michael Abspoel will talk to writer Gerbrand Bakker, Gazi Duran, queer Muslim advisor and actor Jefferson Yaw Frempong-Manson (Out, 2024).
Using excerpts from Diary of a Freethinker read aloud, they reflect, together with the audience, on the freedoms that were fought for at the time. How can we ensure that the possibility of being yourself and connecting freely with others will continue to be guaranteed in the future?
