Queer Wandeling Tilburg

Martin Luttikholt is once again organizing a city walk along former nightlife spots of queers in the 70s/80s in Tilburg. Where did they go out if they were gay or lesbian? At which places do you encounter queer history in Tilburg? The walk is co-organized by the Regional Archive Tilburg and COC Tilburg-Breda and surroundings.

The walk starts at the Regional Archive Tilburg, where a small collection of documents will be displayed, showing how little has been preserved of the LGBTI+ history in Tilburg and its vicinity. Preservation is important, for no documents, no history. Afterwards, Martin will lead the participants past cafes, meeting places, and the first COC building of that time. There is also an important story to be told about the city's queer history at the cemetery on Bredase Weg.

3:30 PM: reception in the archive with an introduction and viewing of archive pieces

4:00 PM: start of the walk led by Martin Luttikholt

5:30 PM: end of the walk at Kim’s Kroeg, Piusplein 61.

 Martin Luttikholt wederom een stadswandeling langs vroegere plekken van het uitgaansleven van queers in de jaren 70/80 in Tilburg. Waar gingen die uit als ze homo of lesbienne waren? Op welke plekken kom je de queergeschiedenis tegen in Tilburg? De wandeling wordt mede georganiseerd door Regionaal Archief Tilburg en COC Tilburg-Breda en omgeving.

De wandeling start in Regionaal Archief Tilburg, waar een kleine collectie documenten te zien is, die laten zien hoe weinig er bewaard is van de LHBTI+ geschiedenis in Tilburg en omstreken. Bewaren is van belang, want no documents, no history. Daarna leidt Martin de deelnemers onder andere langs cafés, ontmoetingsplekken en het eerste pand van het COC van die tijd. Ook op de begraafplaats aan de Bredase Weg is een belangrijk verhaal over de queergeschiedenis van de stad te vertellen.
