Rondleiding Regionaal Archief: sporen van queergeschiedenis

The Regional Archive is organizing free tours during Pride Week. During the tour through the archives' depots, pieces of local LGBTIQ+ history in the collections of the Regional Archive will be examined, from the eighteenth century to the present: from the story of four men who were prosecuted for 'sodomy' in 1756 in Alkmaar to the archive of the regional department of the COC, the oldest existing LGBTIQ+ advocacy organization in the world. Because being queer is nothing new, not even in Alkmaar and its surroundings, but the history of the LGBTIQ+ community is sometimes deeply hidden in the (archive) sources.

The tours will take place on Tuesday, May 21, Thursday, May 23, and Friday, May 24, from 3:30 PM to approximately 4:30 PM at the Regional Archive. Participation is free. Registration is required due to a limited maximum group size. This can be done via info@archiefalkmaar.nl or 072-8508200.

Het Regionaal Archief organiseert gratis rondleidingen in de Pride Week. Tijdens de rondleiding door de depots van het archief worden stukjes van de lokale lhbtiq+ geschiedenis in de collecties van het Regionaal Archief bekeken, van de achttiende eeuw tot nu: van het verhaal van vier mannen die in 1756 in Alkmaar vervolgd werden voor ‘sodomie’ tot het archief van de regionale afdeling van het COC, de oudste nog bestaande lhbtiq+ belangenorganisatie ter wereld. Want queer zijn is niets nieuws, ook niet in Alkmaar en omgeving, maar de geschiedenis van de lhbtiq+ gemeenschap zit soms wel diep verscholen in de (archief)bronnen.

De rondleidingen worden gehouden op dinsdag 21 mei, donderdag 23 mei en vrijdag 24 mei van 15.30 uur tot circa 16.30 uur in het Regionaal Archief. Deelname is gratis. Aanmelden is verplicht i.v.m. een beperkte maximale groepsgrootte. Dit kan via info@archiefalkmaar.nl of 072-8508200.
