Voguing Workshop - Utrecht Ballroom Scene (UQCF)

In this Vogue Fem workshop for Beginners, you will learn Voguing. This is a dance style developed by black and Latin queer and trans individuals in the ballroom community in Harlem in the 1960s. The ballroom culture has existed in the Netherlands for ten years and is a safer space where queer and trans people of color are central. During this workshop, you'll learn the basic elements of Vogue Fem, one of the three performance categories in ballroom. The workshop is accessible to everyone. You don't need any dance experience to participate. After the workshop, you can stay and watch the Advanced class (20:00 – 21:00), where Voguers from the Utrecht Ballroom Scene will perform. Every Tuesday evening, you can take lessons in Utrecht.

Good to know if you want to participate:

• The workshop is open to everyone, but it's particularly intended for queer individuals.
• Participation is free; registration is desirable! Registration link will follow as soon as possible.

Accessibility: The location is accessible, however, as it is a dance workshop, people with certain physical limitations may have more difficulty participating in the activity. Everything can, of course, be discussed – we want to make it possible for as many people as possible to participate.

In deze Vogue Fem workshop voor Beginners leer je Voguen. Dit is een dansstijl die is ontwikkeld door de zwarte en latin queer en trans personen in de ballroom community in Harlem in de jaren 60. Sinds tien jaar bestaat de ballroom cultuur in Nederland, en is het een safer space waarin queer en trans personen van kleur centraal staan. Tijdens deze workshop leer je de basic elements van Vogue Fem, één van de drie performance categories in ballroom. De workshop is toegankelijk voor iedereen. Je hebt geen danservaring nodig om mee te doen. Na de workshop kun je blijven kijken bij de Advanced class (20:00 – 21:00), waarin Voguers uit de Utrecht Ballroom Scene zullen performen. Elke dinsdagavond kun je lessen volgen in Utrecht.

ToegankelijkheidDe locatie is toegankelijk, echter gezien het een dansworkshop betreft, zullen mensen met bepaalde fysieke beperkingen meer moeite hebben om deel te nemen aan de activiteit. Alles kan uiteraard overlegd worden – we willen het mogelijk maken voor zoveel mensen als mogelijk om deel te nemen.
